Each piece is sandblasted down to the original metal base. For aluminum, The
Southern Company uses a special aluminum oxide grit to avoid pitting the metal.
Relying on an advanced powder coating technology, paint is electrostatically applied
in 11 different color choices. Then the frame is baked in an oven to cure the powder,
creating a new finish, sturdy enough to withstand blows from a hammer.
